Associated Sales Tax Consultants, Inc. (ASTC) was founded in 1980 by Joseph F. Micallef, a former Field Audit Supervisor for the Board. With nine years of audit experience
from within the agency to draw upon, Mr. Micallef launched what is now the largest firm of its kind in California. His goal has been to equalize the uneven struggle between business
people and the State Board "Audit Machine".
Since then, ASTC has represented more than 4000 taxpayers not only before the California State Board of Equalization, but also other states' sales tax agencies. Their clients include businesses from small sole proprietors to large multi-national corporations and represent every business type. They have also represented sports and entertainment celebrities, political figures, and the average "Joe."
